10 Little Things

I stole this from Katy's (my fabbity fab sister in law) blog.

Ten little things that make me terribly happy:

1. Reading others' blogs.
2. Getting forwards at work.
3. Making friends with strangers.
4. New shoes.
5. Freshly dyed hair (no icky root re-growth).
6. Family vacations, when my dad tells stories or talks about his memories.
7. Lance making up a new song by rhyming with the old one (unless he's being gross...). Or just when he's making stuff up in general.
8. When a dog tilts their head to the side when they're looking at you.
9. 25 cent rings from a vending machine (Taco Bell!).
10. Tan feet.

Memories - Part 1

Every few months I get in a slump where I get super negative, hate everyone, and don't want to do anything but sleep. I'm trying to figure out ways to get out of it. Logically, I feel retarded and that I shouldn't feel sorry for myself. I know I'm just being emotional and stupid, and I hate it! But emotionally I can't get a grip on myself. No matter how much I know I'm being retarded and that it's all just in my head, I can't seem to shake the negativity away. So, I've come up with a new plan.

The plan is to write out a few memories from the happiest times in my life. So, each time I feel a slump coming on, I'm going to post some of my favorite times in life, favorite things, things that make me happy, etc. That way I can focus on all the positives I've had in my life, rather than focus on the negatives that surround those positives.

I was thinking about happy memories on my way to work today, and it really helped put me in a good mood for the moment. Also, I had good memories about pretty much everyone I know. So hopefully writing this won't only have a positive effect on me, but it will also let others know that they have had a positive effect on me, thus making you feel good about yourself.

The Memories
1. CKJLMT. It stands for Carly, Camille, Kristen, Kaylynn, Katherine, Jenn, Latisha, Misty, Tiffany. That was my "group" when I left Santaquin. Camille came up with the letter order, and we used to doodle it all the time. One of my user names I use on the computer, is still CKJennLMT. So if you ever wondered what it meant... there you have it.

2. Moving from Santaquin to Pleasant Grove was an incredibly hard time in my life. I had a huge circle of friends who I had to leave to come to this place where I knew nobody. Well, before I left Carly wanted to hang out. It wasn't very often that I hung out with someone other than Camille outside of school so I felt a little awkward at first, but Carly is so sweet that the awkwardness went away fast. We walked to Carly's house and when we got there she rang the doorbell. I was thinking in my head, "that's random". We went downstairs and ALL my friends were there. I think Carlee Haws and Sydney Degraw were there too.... remind me if I'm wrong. The only significance of that was that they were from Payson, and everyone else was around my neighborhood. Anyway, they threw me a surprise farewell party! I had never felt so special in my entire life. We played games and just hung out. I don't know if I ever told them how much that meant to me.

3. I don't know why this one sticks out so much right now... but here goes. When I was 14 or so, Tenille and I got bored one day and decided to go to mutual looking like "punks." Tenille was super nice and did my hair in dreads. It took forever, but it looked awesome! She was so patient, and spent all the time we had on my hair, so we didn't have a lot of time to make her hair cool. It made me feel pretty special that she would do that for me. We also put on a lot of black makeup, and wore all black. I think I wore a black/purple flame shirt, and she gave me some pants and shoes to wear. I specifically remember a leader (can't remember which one) asking me what was wrong, and I told the leader that I had a bad day. But, the truth is, I didn't have a bad day, we were just bored. I think we ended up looking more like goths than like punks. But hey, it was a fun bonding experience.

One more for today:

4. Spring of 2002, I was 14 years old, Emma went to Florida to stay with her sister for a while. I don't remember how often she called me, but I remember I was talking to her on the phone one day, and I told her that I was going to a movie with Lance. Lance, at that time, was just a friend to me, but I did sorta like him. Well, Emma said she had a secret to tell me. She told me that Lance liked me. I was so surprised, and excited that I started to cry! I was so excited that this boy that I liked, actually liked me back. I am so grateful for Emma telling me that. Emma really is the one to thank for getting Lance and me together. But, that's a memory for another day.

Stones of Yellow

I wonder why Yellowstone is called Yellowstone... there really aren't any yellow stones there. There's yellow bacteria (along with red, orange, green and blue), but no yellow stones. Hmm... I'll have to look into that.

So, my family went on yet another trip to Yellowstone. I love going on trips with the entire family. It's a great way to connect with eachother. Granted, most of the time we end up wanting to ring each other's necks at one point, but that's part of the fun, in't it?

The drive up was nice and long. We had to stop every couple of hours for my baby to go potty outside (don't want to mess up the potty training!). She did such a great job. We also stopped at Bear Word, which is super expensive, but it was a lot of fun! We got to drive through and see animals up close. And there was a petting zoo afterward. My dad pet this grumpy pig that snarled at him a lot. It was kinda freaky. I was expecting it to jump up and do some kung foo type moves at any second! It was so ugly, seriously. All the pictures we took are on Lance's phone, so maybe I'll update this post with the photos later on.

The first night we didn't do much. We set up our tents and made a fire. I played scrabble with Eric, Kate and Elise... and I totally sucked it up. I'm so bad at that game. Kate won. We also all went on a walk. We were going to go to the lake, but stopped about halfway there because we all lost interest. It was a lovely walk though.

The weather was better than I thought it would be. It was cool, but not super cold. It poured like crazy when we were in Gardner! Lance and I bought T-shirts there. They were having a mega sale, and I got a super cute shirt for $10! Lance's was only $7! We saw 4 bears, all in one day, too. Pretty exciting! Last time we went, we didn't see any bears. Maybe they came out more this time because we went earlier in the year, and it was cooler.

Oh, and I have started a snow globe collection. So far I have a snowglobe from Disneyland, Disneyworld, Bear World and Yellowstone. I want to get them from all the places I vacation too. Kinda silly, I know. But they take up less space than the bears I used to collect!

Lance is still itching to go on more trips... I guess we are always itching to go on trips. He really wants to go to Cleveland, OH to Cedar Point. It's this huge theme park that has 16 roller coasters! That's just the roller coasters, they have the other non-roller coaster rides as well.

http://www.cedarpoint.com/

I think it sounds like a lot of fun, but a bit expensive to do it spur of the moment like most of our other trips. I think we need to save and go next summer... we'll see. We already are itching to go to Vegas again. We saw Harry Potter 5 on Fremont Street while we were on our honeymoon, so he wants to go down there to the same theater to see Harry Potter 6. It's silly how we justify things, isn't it? But now, instead of it just being the routine, quick Vegas trip we're thinking about taking a few days off and going to Disneyland as well. We're trying to talk people into going with us... we'll see how it goes. It's great fun going with just Lance, but we've done that twice already in the last year, and we think it would be fun to go with another couple. Right now the plan is to leave Wednesday, July 15 and drive to Los Angeles, spend Thursday and Friday at Disneyland, drive to Vegas on Saturday and see the movie/do other touristy things, then drive home Sunday. But plans change, and I'm sure this one will change too.

Happy Wednesday!

Little Angel

I've never had a puppy before... strange huh? Growing up, my family always had a dog. But we always got them when they were a little older. They're such cute little things.

This week with Bentley has been more difficult than I thought it would be. Since Lance and I work all day, I made her a den in our downstairs bathroom. I put her cage with her bed in it in there and then she has space around that to play and/or use the restroom. It's heartbreaking to leave in the morning, having her crying really loud. But I'm sure once she gets used to it, it will get better. I just wish she didn't have to stay in there alone for 9 hours.

Potty training is going pretty well. It started out pretty rough, but over the week, once we got used to her timing, it's gotten better. All the potty traning material I have says that they usually need to go to the restroom 20-30 minutes after eating, but Bentley doesn't go until at least an hour afterwards. So, this means I have to get up with her at 6:30 in the morning, so she has time to eat, play and go potty before I leave for work. It's exhausting! But she is so worth it.

She loves to play. I'm sure that's true with all puppies. But its so cute when she's running around the room, and then she kind of barks at you to get your attention. It's like "Play with me, dang it!"

Today, she decided she liked Lance's work shoe better than she likes her toys. She was dragging the shoe around he room by the shoelaces. It looked pretty hard! Considering that the shoe is bigger than she is, or at least the same size. It weighs way more though. She's a measly 2.6 pounds, and Lance's shoe is steel-toed... not sure how much it weighs though.

The other day, when Lance went to his softball game. Bentley climbed right up me, onto the back of our couch and decided to take a little nap there. I loved it so much! She is so adorable when she sleeps. I got a picture of it. But the beeping of my camera (when it focuses) woke her up, so she's half awake in this picture. Aww.. my little baby.
She's such a little angel.
There are a few people who have said that Bentley is a boy's name. But I honestly can't see it being a boy's name. Maybe it's neutral like many other names these days... Bentley... it's a super nice car. Cars are female, right? Therefore, Bentley works as a girl's name. I used the excuse that no boy's name should end in "ley" but then I got it thrown in my face that there's Charlie, Wesley, Riley, Lee..... But hey, I like the name. It fits my baby well.

We're the Dancerz

I had a great time performing on Saturday, and I'm so thankful for all those who came and supported me. It really meant a lot to see people supporint me. I thought they only filmed it the night I didn't dance... but lucky me...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-y45vRiVYY

Jordan said they were thinking about making a music video. That sounds interesting... not sure yet if it's going to happen or not.

In other news... I got a baby! Introducing....

Bentley!

I love her so much. She is a black and tan Chihuawhat. A Chihuahua Terrier mix. I think she should be called a "Chihua-warrior" (get it?) but yeah... Anyway, she's super sweet and cuddly. She loves to be held, but she also loves to run around on the ground at your feet. She loves to get your face. Lance was laughing a lot last night when he was laying on the ground and she kept trying to kiss his face. She keeps trying to kiss Abbi, but Abbi gets super upset and hisses at her, swats her and runs away.

Oh the joy of children! :)

Hey Big Spender

Lance and I got a little carried away today...

We went to the mall to get his mom a birthday present, and while we were there I went to Buckle. In a moment of weakness, I bought a pair of jeans and two shirts. Even though I'm feeling guilty about the cost, they look hot! While I was doing this, Lance bought two phone covers and got a clear shield put on his phone.

After the mall I had ballroom practice. Jordan and Brenda cleaned us like crazy today! It was very exhausting, and also way too hot in the dance room at the PG rec center! But, the dance is going to look amazing!

We actually went back to the mall after this, and got me a new phone. It's pretty sweet, I love it. It's a Samsung Eternity. We also bought me two phone covers and got a clear shield put on it, since it's a touch screen phone. I'm pretty excited, since I've had the same phone for about two and a half years now. The phone cover selection wasn't as sweet as the ones for the iPhone that Lance got. So I just got a solid pink one, and one that's blue with white flowers on it.

All in all, it was a great day... we just, are feeling a little guilty about the money we spent... Doh!
